Politicians like to pigeon hole people so they can talk in broad terms about how policy will affect ‘Silver Surfers’; ‘Baby Boomers’; ‘Middle England’ etc. In November 2010 Labour Leader Ed Milliband came up with a new sub-set for political parties to woo – The Squeezed Middle.
Earlier this year I joined the ranks of the squeezed middle when I lost my job working in the PR department of a London Council. I know it’s not a front-line service and if cuts have to be made
I’d go for social services and schools first that’s where I’d start chopping too.
So this blog is about my journey from middle class media luvvy to fully paid-up (although I get discount now I’m unemployed) member of the squeezed middle – and hopefully back again.
